Easy Baked Monte Cristo Sandwiches

A Monte Cristo is a fried ham and cheese sandwich, a variation of the French croque-monsieur.

For a change from using bread to make Monte Cristo sandwiches, I baked them using ready puff pastry sheet.

Baked Monte Cristo Sandwiches
Ingredients:
1 - 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 Puff Pastry Sheet, thawed
4 slices ham
4 slices cheese
1 teaspoon confectioners' sugar or ice snow powder.
Maple syrup

Method:
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Prepare the baking sheet with lightly greased parchment paper.

Sprinkle the flour on the work suface.
Place the pastry sheet on the work surface.
Cut into 4 squares.

With a corner of 1 pastry facing you, place 1 slice ham and 1 slice cheese on the bottom half of the pastry.

Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle and press the edges to seal.  Crimp the edges with a fork.

Place the pastries onto the baking sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes or until the pastries are golden brown.

Dust the pastries with the confectioners' sugar.  Serve with the maple syrup.

Pretty quick and easy to bake these sandwiches ... yum yum !
Enjoyed these flaky pastry freshly baked from the oven. Served with hot or cold beverage ... that's our morning brekkie ... on a lazy weekend ^-^!
